This is the main form to fill out for your application to adjust your status. This form is pretty easy to fill out nothing to hard about this form, there were a few tricky questions. So this is what I learnt about filling in the form personally.
Please make sure not to leave any question blank always write NONE if you haven't an answer. The first part of the form is: Part 1 Information About You. If you're a female and your taking your husband's surname, then you use that name on this form. I wasn't sure what the C/O line was so I wrote 'NONE' You then write your current address in the next line. Then your write your Date of Birth, Country of Birth. Your Social Security # if you have one, I didn't have one so I left it blank, then A# is your alien registration number. You can find this on your petition approval notice or on your K-1 Visa under the 'Annotation Number' I was unsure about this part 'Current INS Status' I called the local INS call center and they told me to put "K-1". Expires on, this is when your 90 days on your I-94 is up. Part 2 Application Type I am applying for an adjustment to permanent resident status because: Answer (C) "I entered as a K-1 Fiancée of a U.S Citizen whom I married within 90 days of entry, or I am the K-2 child of such a fiancée (Attach a copy of the fiancée petition approval notice and the marriage certificate. Part 3 Processing Information This section is pretty easy, nothing to worry about here. You write your place of birth, current occupation, and parents' names. You then have to enter your name exactly how it appears on your Arrival Departure Record (Form I-94) Place of last entry in the U.S, please write the state, city you arrived in when you emigrated. 'In what status did you last enter?' I wrote "K-1 Holder" Please tick "Yes" to 'Were you inspected by a U.S Immigration Officer.' that way the INS will not ask you on why you entered the U.S Illegally. Your Nonimmigrant Visa Number is the number that is on the bottom right of your K-1 Visa, it is written in red. Consulate where your visa was issued - my visa was issued in London. But this is just where you went for your Interview and had your visa at. And then you write the date when your visa was issued. Have you ever before applied for permanent resident status in the U.S? I ticked "No" You are then asked to list your new spouse as your present family I wrote NONE when it asked for Clayton's A# and I ticked "No" he's not applying with me. Then you're asked to list all your present and past memberships in affiliation with any political organizations. I was unsure what to put here, so I called my local INS office and they told me, if I have nothing to declare then I was to put 'NONE' You then have a Questionnaire to fill out, of 14 questions. I am unsure why they have this section here, the questions are very similar to the DS-156. Most of the questions seem very wired to me.. 'Have you ever engaged in genocide, or otherwise ordered, incited, assisted or otherwise participated in the killing of any person because of race, religion, ethnic origin or political opinion.' I guess most of the questions makes sense these days after September 11th. Part 4 Signature & Date This is where us females get to sign in our Married name. You also need to fill out the G-325A Biographic Information form again.
