Meeting Online
I logged onto the Internet the following day to meet Clayton at our usual meeting time. I was sure he wouldn’t be there, after my email it was a bit obvious that I wanted to be more than friends. I waited for a while, and his screen name appeared. We said hi to each other and after the general chitchat, we started talking about my email. He didn’t seem that bothered by what I said which was a good thing, or was it? Did he have the same type of feelings? I was too afraid too ask.
The next message he send me, took my mind off what I was previously thinking. He asked for my address and telephone number, I was a bit hesitant at first, with all the nutcases online. But I realized Clayton was no nutcase, I told him I had to check with my parent’s first, and that I’d get back to him soon.
That evening I talked with my mother, she knew I’d been talking with Clayton for quite some time. So she agreed with it, as long as I knew he was genuine, and was sensible enough. The next day we exchanged addresses and phone numbers.
Throughout May 2001 we send each other letters and gifts from our area. We both agreed to an idea I put across one day online. That we would record ourselves on Audio tape and send tapes to each other. And so we did. I remember the first time I had his package through the mail; I jumped for joy when I opened it. Inside was a letter an Audiotape and some pictures of himself and his area.
I read the letter about 5 times before I did anything else; I then looked at the tape and got very excited. I couldn’t wait to hear his voice; I ran up to my bedroom, placed the tape inside the stereo and took a breath as I pressed play. Waiting anxiously, I heard a soft American accent coming from the speakers. It was Clayton, I fell in love with his voice instantly and I knew from that moment that I couldn’t live without him.
