Being in an online long distance relationship can be quite strainful. To keep the spark alive I've jotted down some very useful enjoyable online and offline ideas.
Exchange Clothes - This is a great way to remember your loved one by. Clayton send me his "Michigan" Sweater I always wear it to bed seeming its too big for me. I also gave him a scarf with my favourite perfume on it.
Bedtime - It's always nice to be close to the one you love at night. Try sending your loved one a pillowcase with his/her favourite scent. At least you'll have thier smell with you. Clayton gave me a pillow case with his favourite cologne on it, and also a quilted blanket seeming I always said I was cold without him in the nights.
Send Tapes to one another - Try sending audio tapes to one another. This was great for us right at the start of our relationship. We were both very phone shy, so for a while we just send audio tapes of our voices back and forth through the mail. It's also quite a good idea to make up a love song tape for your loved one. Pick a love song that you both like and make it "Your song"
Sing to one another - Sing to each other over the phone. Clayton often sings me to sleep, I love being put to sleep by his voice.
Read to each other - Read to each other, get a good book that you both enjoy and read in turn to each other.
Watch movies together - Rent a movie together and watch it together on the phone. Me and Clatyon love doing this, we have watched many romantic movies together. There can be a bit of a time delay on the phone. But normally if you both time it just right you can watch it together without a problem.
Make a Scrapbook - Create a scrapbook about your visits. I have all these different leaflets of all the tourist attractions we went to in the US and in the UK. I stuck them all in a scrap book along with our flight stubs.
Write a special note to your loved one before you leave - And slip it under thier pillow. I wrote a little goodbye note for Clayton when I left the US for our 3rd Visit. I slipped it under his pillow, so a part of me would be with him in the night. The next time he was in the UK he did the same to me, and left the note under the pillow.
Always carry something of your loved one with you - To remind yourself how much your're loved. I have a small passport size photo of the two of us in my purse. Which was taken in a photo booth in the US. I also have this small coin that Clayton bought for me while I was in the US on our 3rd visit. The coin says "Love is patient and kind... it always protects, trusts, and hopes.. love never fails"
Send letters cards and care packages unexpectedly - It's great to get a letter or a package from your loved one especially unexpectedly. Clayton and I have both exchanged many cards, letters and packages to one another, and it's always a nice surprise.
Personalised gift - It's always extra special if you make the gift personalised. For Clayton's 21st Birthday I went to my local craft market and they made him a personalised plaque with a special verse I choose. It also had a Welsh Dragon attached. I also got him a Try or for more ideas.
Cherish your memories - It's always nice to look back at all the memories you've shared.
