Online Long Distance Relationships

Can Long Distance Relationships work?

Yes, with alot of hard work and determination. Every relationship takes alot of hard work and determination to see it through, online long distance relationships are no different. You do have the added strain of being apart from your loved one. While the relationship remains a long distance one there are ways to make it less painful.

  • Always try and make contact with your loved one every day. Through phone is the best way, but obviously if that's not possible, maybe an email. It's always a nice suprise to send your loved one a letter through snail mail too.
  • Try to keep yourself busy everyday, it's really not healthy to mope around the house wishing you were with your loved one. Try getting yourself involved in a social activity maybe take a part time course at school. Or even join an online group and get doing something that way.
  • Plan a set time to meet your online love each day, set aside a couple of hrs a day just for the two of you.
  • Share your days together, make your loved one part of your everyday life. You may not be together but that doesn't mean they aren't part of your every day life. Try talking to your friends, family & work colleges about your loved one.
  • Have a fixed meeting date, this makes the waiting alot more easier. At least you know that you wont be apart for too long.
  • Always stay positive about the relationship, don't dwell on the fact that your apart. Look forward to the days you'll soon share together and in each others arms.

Ways of Communicating in an LDR

Communication is what keeps online romances alive. There are a number of ways to keep a long distance relationship from sinking.

  • Email - Good old email from start to finish.
  • Instant Messenger - I coundn't live without one of these.
  • Web Cam - See your partner face to face each day.
  • Phone - This is expensive, but worth while to hear each other each day. To keep costs down (and maybe hide the numerous calls from the folks) try phonecards, if you live in the US try 10-10-987...it works.
  • Snail Mail - For good old romantics.
  • Talk on the net - Not as good as talking on the phone, but it helps. <!--end content here --> </p></td> </tr> </table> </BODY> </HTML>
